About our program..
Our Lower Elementary students are students in grades 1-3. If you weren’t with us for Kindergarten, and are considering transfering over from another school, no problem! We will teach them everything they need to know. If your child is struggling to read, or falling behind in math, or ahead of everyone and bored in a typical environment, we will evaluate them and find out where they are at and meet them there. Our Elementary classroom will not move beyond 10-15 students per classroom, and we will maintain a 7:1 teacher ratio, with the classroom having a Montessori trained and licensed teacher, and one assistant. This is the only way we can guarentee that your child will recieve the individualized attention that he or she deserves.
Our philosophy…
The Montessori method is not a course of study but a way of respecting the individualized development needs of children. Becoming a part of a Montessori classroom is more than just learning to present lessons and use the materials. It is a life changing transformation. Montessori is more than a methodology - it is a way of life. Our Montessori environment is designed to be calm and orderly, which encourages concentration and focus. We respect the autonomy and individuality of each child. We aim to foster a positive, supportive atmosphere where children feel safe to explore, make mistakes, and succeed. Our classrooms are equipped with materials that are designed to be tactile and concrete, allowing children to explore abstract concepts through physical manipulation. Enlightened Journey Montessori believes in meeting your child where are they at. We encourage children to move forward in their best ability to be successful. We respect individuality and individual needs, but we encourage children towards learning and meeting educational goals.
Our curriculum…
Enlightened Journey Montessori is focused on creating solid knowledge. Our Montessori curriculum is built around a three-year cycle. We have three years to present all the content. Our Montessori curriculum is precisely divided within each month, weekly segments and daily presentation. Our team meticulously measures your child’s personal and academic growth through Transparent Classroom. Parents will be informed about their children’s progress frequently. We love to involve parents in our joyful journey of learning.
In Lower Elementary level the best cultural units make global connections by relating all aspects of the curriculum to the cultural being studied, including animal and plant life, language, math, food, people and customs. Student will also find it enriching to learn about cultural art, music, dance, legends, folk tales, games, festivals, traditions and religions. We follow a strong cultural curriculum.
